Romans and Drinking

As in the rest of the world, Romans drink. Local preferences are cappuccino in the morning (with cornetto), caffè espresso all day, vino for lunch, dinner, or instead of cocktails, and grappa or amaro at the end of meals or as a digestive. Italians, however, drink very moderately.

Where to drink

Bars and Lounges

A place to drink cocktails, wines and spirits. Most lounges bars offer restaurant services.

Wine bars

A more refined place to drink or buy wines and spirits. Most wine bars offer cheese plates, hams, salads, and some of them serve full meals. A specialty served in most wine bars is Lardo, a sort of pork fat, with bread. The most famous wine bars in Rome are Trimani and Costantini.
