A festival as a true symbol of beauty and beauty that becomes suggestion. A suggestion for a time that was and returns in the garments and hairstyles of men and women with an unforgettable taste. It is the burlesque that with its colorful carriage carries the memories of the past in the modern present, thanks to that amazing machine of the time that is the Caput Mundi International Burlesque Award, which for its sixth edition goes on stage from 16 to 18 November, for the first time, in the renovated Parioli Theater Club directed by the pragmatic Nanni Venditti who strongly wanted it in season. The event, always under the guidance of the artistic mind of Albadoro Gala and the creative director Silvio Cossi of SDC Service, promises sparks and as usual a potpourri of guests from all over the world, ready to fight each other to climb the summit and to earn the title of Papessa del Burlesque 2018, toasting the victory with the mixologists of Compagnie dei Caraibi, the main sponsor of the event.

All with the pride and prestige of having brought the Caput Mundi I.B.A. in a large Capitoline theater. << This edition will not only be a sequence of act, but a real story that will lead the public to abstract places, made of beauty and absurdity, contradictions and flights of Pindaric, closer to my personal conception of burlesque, made of great Albadoro, ready for its sixth edition that this year proposes a graphic concept tribute to the great George Méliès, with an advertising campaign that proposes the moon symbol of the French director, with the connotations of an Albadoro Gala that everything scrutinizes from the top of his sky made of stars and profuse femininity.

Switzerland, Denmark, France, Russia, Greece, United Kingdom, New Zealand, America, Germany and a pinch of Italy. Among over two hundred requests for presence, with applications from every country, there are four professionals selected (called “headliners”) who will perform alternating with the six new levers (called “newcomers”), running for the title of Papessa . Judging by the six rising stars, the guest stars of this edition are thinking about it: the Englishman Bambury Cross, of a painted beauty, followed by the macho of the early twentieth century, the American Russell Bruner, who will sit next to the refined Chris Oh! from New Zealand and the artistic director of Parioli, Nanni Venditti.

Will be the four major exponents of the genre present, to elect the winner among the newcomers, including the Italian Holly’s Good, Midnight Purrs, Sweet Chilly and Jiminy Cricket, followed by the Danish Scarlett Blixen and Swiss Silly Than.

The winner will win the booking at the major burlesque stages in Europe, such as the Voodoo de Luxe in Milan, the Prinzipal Kreuzberg in Berlin, the Bodense Extravaganza on Lake Constance, the Nasty Boys in Treviso and finally the return to Rome in edition of the next Caput Mundi IBA 2019. Expectations and welcome guests ready to show themselves in all their glory, are the headliners: Clea De Velours and Cherry Lily Darling from France, the Russian Agneta Linchevskaya and the greek John Celestus, among which Betsy Rose from England stands out. Leading the three days we will find the team of presenters and disturbers that has consolidated over time and that will see on the stage the multifaceted Marty Maraschino, followed by the transformist Jesus and the indomitable and few words (but many gestures) Azzurro Fumo. The three will be joined by stage kittens Mad Cat and Imy Silly Noir and for the first time to run, the landlady Albadoro Gala.

A program ready to satisfy all tastes, not only shows but also workshops with guests Betsy Rose, Chris Oh !, Bambury Cross and Jhon Celestus, which will take place on Sunday 18 November from 12.00 to 19.00 (For information and reservations call 348 4298631). The three days will develop with the performance and the election of the winner on Friday, followed Saturday by the gala evening with classic red carpet and finally big party on Sunday, with a day of relaxation for all the artists who participated.

The #CaputMundiIBA (acronym and hastag of the kermesse), is now a ritual event for all the fans and the curious of the retro genre. The elegance and grace with which young people (or less young people, who care) women and men, approach the practice of burlesque, always leave the audience amazed and intrigued, to the point of testing on their own skin the sock of a sock parade with care or a glove slipped away with a never casual distraction.

Beauty is suggestion. Burlesque lights up the capital of Italy!
