EIGHT FRYMER and ACANTHUS STUDY
OBOR art and lighting will develop a series of exhibitions every two months, during which works will be presented in conversation with as many lamps / design objects. Each work will have its own lamp that will accompany it, illuminating it for two months. Each artist will be paired with a design company.
The splendid showcase of the OBOR point of sale in Via del Leone will be the perfect exhibition space to enjoy the interaction/interview between the two artistic forms. The exhibition can be visited inside every day during the hours of shop 9.00-19.30. While the showcase, illuminated even at night, can be visited at any time of day.
EIGHT FRYMER
Otto Fymer, a pseudonym chosen by the artist to remain anonymous, speaks to us filtered through screens. Frymer works on existing photos stolen from the net, cuts them out and manipulates them. He uses even a fragment of the image, then re-photographs it through the display. He uses the screen as a filter, cover, defense, shield. Each image is broken down, cut, revised to change totally blurred by the pixels that now belong to our way of looking / seeing. Like myopia, the display and the photographic lenses make the image far from how it looks and how it looks. The work returns to the theme of reality that is now completely lost in our time and in Otto’s poetics. Each image is conceived as if it were spied on, in a sort of refined and voyeuristic eroticism. The images appear distorted, sometimes discoloured, but the sensation of freshness given by the lack of workmanship at the origin is strong. The photo is found by chance and has no initial relevance, it takes on a social sense because it is looked at from a different angle and because it is screened by the photographic lens and the display.
