Piazza Mazzini
Author: R. De Vico; Ermenegildo Luppi Date: 1927
Materials: mainly travertine and cement mortar by Architect Raffaele De Vico (1881-1969) who, inspired by an ancient nymphaeum, created a large fountain that he called a garden-fountain. It was made in collaboration with Ermenegildo Luppi (1877-1937) who created the sculptural parts, and was finally completed in 1927.
The vast quadrangular basin, with a peperino border, is circumscribed in a grass area that is also circular. At the four corners of the basin are four monumental columns set on a high base and surmounted by eagles.
Externally, the faces of the column bases are embellished with fountains consisting of semicircular basins into which relief dragons-surmounted by the epigraph Acqua Trevi-throw water from their jaws. The opposite side of the base is articulated in a complex structure consisting of a sloping series of five shells through which water flows, cascading.
At the base of the structure, placed at the bottom of the pool, emerge the silhouettes of two fantastic animals that emit from their jaws a gush oriented toward the center of the complex.
Along the outer perimeter, bordered by colonnettes, runs a minute avenue with polychrome floor mosaic made of river breccia, decorated with radiant suns, sails, tritons, cornucopias and zodiac signs.
For sure, enthusiasts of architecture, urban planning, historical walks, as well as objects and vintage will find unique and fascinating items, ideal for that touch of value, history and originality to their personal collections.

Deejaying for friends since the age of 3 she feels that being raised in the 70s/80s gave her a firm foundation for music appreciation thanks to her father’s vast array of vinyl from all genres such as Jazz, Funk, Blues, Classical and Rock. She attended concerts such as Parliament, The Jackson 5, Earth Wind and Fire, Neil Young, Grateful Dead plus many others. She is a fatalist and this was reinforced when she had a Spiritual experience in Rome and swears she will never leave but she still travels, loves reading about Ancient History, Natural Health, Esoterica and the Arcane.
