Riccardo Rossi in “I Wanted to Be a Musician” will be on stage from December 26, 2024, to January 12, 2025, at the Parisoli-Costanzo Theater in Rome.
“I Wanted to Be a Musician”: An Old-Style Show.
On December 26, 2024, the opening night of Riccardo Rossi’s show took place at the Parioli-Costanzo Theater. The show will run until January 12. In a nostalgic mix of music and old-style humor, the artist maintains his serene, empathetic, and refined style.
Perhaps too sophisticated for the average Italian audience. If his name were Richard Reds, we might have hailed him as a star. But he remains the boy from the 7th floor on Viale Tiziano in Parioli and is not ashamed of it. “And to find Domenico Modugno, you just had to go up one floor” is just one of the many anecdotes he shares.
Before the show began, a quick question was posed to Riccardo Rossi: “Are you excited?” He responded firmly, “Yes.” A brief pause, followed by an even more intense and resolute “Yes!”
“I had tile patterns on my face,” he recalls, referring to his boldness in meeting many artists throughout his life.
And so, for 90 minutes—like a soccer match—the show unfolds seamlessly with music and gags. In the end, he is cheered on by a warm audience eager for overtime.
Instead, time flies by, leaving us reflecting on the wonderful music we grew up with. Many songs are played on the piano by Riccardo, accompanied by an eight-piece band of highly talented musicians (vocals, keyboards, bass, guitar, drums, trombone, and two trumpets) who support him masterfully.
But tonight, all we can say is: I Wanted to Be a Musician. Bravo, Riccardo!
But tonight we can only say: I wanted to be a musician. Well done, Riccardo!
