In scena dal 30 Maggio 2019 al 2 Giugno 2019 al Teatro Lo Spazio (Roma), “Famiglia” di Valentina Esposito, regista e fondatrice di FACT (Fort Apache Cinema Teatro).

“Famiglia” è uno spettacolo che colpisce dritto al cuore senza farlo dolcemente. Arriva nudo e crudo, con tutta la forza con cui un cuore può essere scardinato. In scena parlano i fantasmi, primo fra tutti un inarrivabile Marcello Fonte nella parte del capostipite della famiglia, parla il passato, parlano i legami rotti mentre i vivi stanno lì a sentire, anzi a subire. A subire una vita fatta di dolori, distanze e silenzi che si tramandano di generazione in generazione senza mai cambiare perché le cose, in famiglia, si ripetono sempre. L’incipit dello spettacolo è un urlo, un grido di rabbia che diventa una preghiera feroce e disperata lanciata dal superbo Alessandro Bernardini che attacca così: “Me serve un padre!”

Dietro a tale affermazione si disperde tutta la tristezza e l’abbattimento di chi non ha fatto altro che scornarsi con i padri di famiglia proprio perché sono “tutti figli dello stesso seme marcio”; Dopo tutto il detto “sei proprio figlio di tuo padre” è qui che acquisisce un senso: generazioni a confronto, meccanismi che si ripetono nel tempo, come un loop senza fine: solo le poche donne di famiglia sono le figure che portano uno spiraglio di luce, pronte a tenere uniti i propri cari, a spingere al perdono, prima fra tutte la moglie di Marcello Fonte, una Chiara Cavalieri discreta e pungente che nonostante la sua sottomessa posizione di donna del sud d’altri tempi ricorda al marito che non c’era bisogno alcuno di arrivare fino a Roma per il nascituro, perché ad essere provinciali e semplici non c’è niente di male e soprattutto a Roma non c’è il mare. E come si fa senza il mare se quella è sempre stata casa tua?

La durezza, i conflitti genitoriali e generazionali si tramandano di padre in figlio nonostante tutti posseggano dei sentimenti che proprio a causa di questa ereditarietà dei caratteri li fa diventare grezzi e delusi da loro stessi, sempre alla ricerca di un tempo ormai passato che non gli restituirà le tante occasioni perse per la riconciliazione. Ma dopotutto la famiglia perfetta non esiste. Un Giancarlo Porcacchia mastodontico nel ruolo del padre freddo, dai modi all’antica, un padre padrone che viene però smascherato e riportato all’umanità da un flashback dove, di notte, viene udito dal figlio, allora bambino, in una confidenza alla moglie: “sto regazzino non me vole bene, non me saluta mai”. E tale e quale rimane il sentimento il giorno del  matrimonio della figlia, sorella del protagonista. Violento fuori, abbattuto dentro, stanco nell’anima e nelle membra perché essere duri è logorante. Essere il prodotto presente di un passato che sarà ancora e ancora uguale al futuro è logorante, è una strada buia e senza uscita.

Una giovanissima e promettente Viola Centi, l’unica figlia e nipote femmina, sposa in una numerosa famiglia tutta al maschile, diventa il pretesto per fare in modo che la storia si ripeta, facendo calare la maschera a tutti, mettendo a nudo gli animi dei protagonisti. Dice bene la zia, interpretata da un’intensa Gabriella Indolfi, quella zia un po’ pettegola ma dall’animo buono che hanno tutte le famiglie: “Fortuna le cerimonie, sennò le famiglie sarebbero tutte spezzate, tutti figli di nessuno”. In un continuo tirare l’elastico del tempo, lo spettacolo muta come mutano le famiglie, numerose e patriarcali, sotto il severo sguardo delle regole dette e non scritte, quelle dove nella famiglia l’incapacità di amare e di comunicare si trasforma in rabbia contro sé stessi e contro il prossimo. Metafora altissima di tutto questo quadro è lo sposo di Viola, al secolo Matteo Cateni, il quale rimane sommesso per buona parte dello spettacolo, come a dire che non necessariamente chi respira, è vivo. Spezza il suo silenzio assordante con un monologo che parte con una calma straziante, quasi fosse l’annunciazione serena di una morte già avvenuta, ovvero la sua: “Questo non è un matrimonio, è un funerale….potrei scappare e nessuno se ne accorgerebbe”. Questa continua ambivalenza nella forma e nel senso dell’essere morti da vivi e vivi da morti è magistrale nell’interpretazione di Edoardo Timmi e nella frase che lo riassume alla perfezione: “In questa famiglia comandano i morti. I vivi non esistono. Io non esisto.”

In questo spettacolo c’è tutto, c’è un pezzo di ognuno di noi. C’è la dispersione della famiglia, impersonata da un Fabio Rizzuto bighellone e sempre con la battuta pronta che lascia lì a riflettere sul senso dell’unione quando, tentando di fare una foto di famiglia se ne esce con un beffardo: “Allora, la volemo fa ‘sta foto de famiglia? È tutto il giorno che ce provo, ma me sfugge sempre qualcuno…”. C’è la rivalità fra i fratelli e l’emarginazione della “pecora nera”, il fratello d’America, un impattante Alessandro Forcinelli che ha fatto soldi e carriera pronto a mettere in ombra il protagonista, alla ricerca della voce di suo padre persa nelle trame del tempo. C’è la derisione del soggetto messo sempre in disparte, un garbato e discreto Piero Piccinin, che ci ricorda il sapore un po’ monicelliano di “Parenti Serpenti” quando tuona con un: “Avete fatto bene voi a scappare…”

Questo non è uno spettacolo, è un racconto di vita che riguarda tutti, un racconto di vita dove è impossibile non sentirsi un po’ pubblico, un po’ attori, un po’ in famiglia.
