Come per le edizioni precedenti, la Maker Faire 2018 continua a seguire la sua vocazione ed ospita i nuovi sviluppi e gli indirizzi nella programmazione e nell’automazione.

I mille volti della robotica e i suoi impieghi, in fiera, hanno mostrato diversi congegni di dimensioni, forme e funzioni diverse. Come l’appuntamento che da sei anni accompagna la Maker romana con la The one love machine band dell’artist robot berlinese Kolja Kugler. Video

E se la robotica si pone anche al servizio della persona? Può diventare un utile supporto alle nostre esigenze, soprattutto per quanto riguarda la salute. A partire dalle applicazioni con Arduino e gli sviluppi di codici di AI, sono diverse le applicazioni che sono state sviluppate dai Makers, e dalle linee di ricerca con alcune proposte che guardano al benessere della persona, all’assistenza per persone con disabilità ed a progetti di ricerca europea sulla chirurgia robotica in fase di sviluppo, come quello al laboratorio Neuroengineering and Medical Robotics Lab (NearLab).

CARTESIO: l’intelligenza artificiale al servizio delle persone con disabilità

Il robot da compagnia creato dagli studenti dell’Istituto professionale Gae Aulenti di Biella

Il progetto si chiama Cogito Ergo Sum, e si presenta nelle sembianze di un simpatico robottino con cui si può iniziare a dialogare e scambiarsi informazioni, raccontare storie, e fare un controllo demotico della nostra abitazione, come ad esempio accendere-spegnere luci, controllare temperatura, allarme e apertura porte da remoto.

Cartesio, questo è il suo nome, è in grado di muoversi in maniera autonoma, di riconoscere quel che vede, di “leggere” le emozioni e le espressioni del volto: capire se sei felice o triste, arrabbiato o annoiato, ma anche quanti anni hai. Rispondere alle tue domande e addirittura giocare!

Ma la cosa sorprendente è che lui impara direttamente da solo, e da tutto ciò che sei in grado di trasmettergli anche attraverso il contatto visivo di una webcam. Cartesio impara grazie ad un software sviluppato dai ragazzi del Gae Aulenti guidati da Giuseppe Aleci e Roberto Donini, insegnanti di elettronica, informatica e programmazione. Hanno iniziato tre anni fa a programmare AI con i loro studenti e sviluppare sistemi in grado di poter collaborare con l’uomo, e quando è possibile a lavorare con i malati:

Lavoriamo con la disabilità – spiega Giuseppe Aleci – perché forniamo alle case di accoglienza strumenti personalizzabili. Si tratta di dispositivi come ad esempio il “Tasto amico” sviluppato per gli ospiti del centro Domus Laetitiae per sintesi vocale e controllo dei dispositivi in infrarosso e bluetooth, grazie al quale i malati possono richiedere in modo semplice alcune funzioni quotidiane. Siamo i vincitori del Premio Ancalau Scuola 2018, la nuova sezione dedicata alle scuole è stata creata da Oscar Farinetti a partire da questa bellissima collaborazione con Domus Laetitiae e per il robot sommelier”.

Quest’ultimo, il robot sommelier, è un fratello di Cartesio, si chiama Caesar ed è stato ospite al Festival Internazionale della Robotica di Pisa, dove la robotica si integrava al settore dell’agroalimentare offrendo un servizio sommelier comleto sfruttando appositi sensori che gli permettono di analizzare il colore del vino, dare informazioni sul ph, livello di acidità, presenza di solfiti, grado alcolico. Attraverso i servizi Microsoft cognitive (per il riconoscimento visivo) e con una tecnologia object tracking memorizza ogni etichetta e crea una sorta di piccolo catalogo di vini, anche se il suo antesignano era stato progettato per la ricerca di sopravvissuti in caso di calamità naturali. Mentre Cartesio potrebbe essere utilizzato anche per l’assistenza e il supporto ai malati di Alzheimer.

Robotica, automazione e realtà aumentata entra in sala operatoria, al servizio della medicina e della salute 

Nadia Cattari, 25 anni Ingegnere biomedico e dottoranda al Centro di ricerca Endocos dell’Università di Pisa ci parla dell’applicazione dell’AR in sala operatoria.

Attraverso lo sviluppo del progetto Vostars “Video Optical See-Through Augmented Reality Surgical System (Vostars)” -il progetto triennale finanziato dalla Commissione Europea con 3,8 milioni di euro nel contesto di Horizon 2020,  coordinato dal Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Informazione dell’Università degli Studi di Pisa con altri partner – è possibile avere su uno schermo la proiezione della lesione intracranica sulla quale il chirurgo potrà andare a operare e fare incisioni con massima precisione. Ad aiutare un programma ibrido di video and optical seetrought che permettono tramite visori o occhiali di poter avere una riproduzione fedele della zona dove si dovrà intervenire.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Alice Segato, 24 anni Ingegnere Informatico e dottoronda in biomedica al Politecnico di Milano ci illustra come dovrebbe funzionare il progetto EDEN 2020 –  che raggruppa un team di ricercatori di istituti internazionali, tra cui l’Università degli Studi di Milano e l’UniversitàVita‐Salute San Raffaele, con la guida esperta in robotica medica dell’Imperial College di Londra, con un finanziamento di 8,3 milioni di euro dalla Commissione Europea nell’ambito del programma Horizon 2020 per sviluppare e sperimentare una sonda robotica flessibile e controllabile di nuova generazione in quattro anni.

Eden2020 si occupa dello sviluppo di dispositivi per la diagnosi bioetica. Con l’uso di “cateteri robotici” (cavi sottili e flessibili) che funzioneranno come una sonda sarà possibile raggiungere e curare le regioni profonde del cervello umano in tutta sicurezza per il paziente. Attraverso il programma di gestione dei cateteri la robotica entrerà in sala operatoria e sarà possibile pianificare la realizzazione di interventi di chirurgia mininvasiva nelle zone del cervello con la possibilità di realizzare biopsie, chemioterapie e intervenire su malattie come il Parkinson.
