È attraccato al Porto di Roma il “Brigitte Bardot”, un trimarano lungo 34 metri e largo 14.

Sea-Shepherd_Brigitte-Bardot_Porto-di-Roma_OceansDa sabato 18 ottobre 2014 e fino a martedì 21 resterà nel Marina di Ostia nell’ambito di “For the Oceans!” una campagna mondiale di sensibilizzazione sulla salvezza degli oceani e delle creature marine minacciate dai comportamenti dell’uomo. L’evento è promosso da Sea Shepher Global. Il motor yacht Brigitte Bardot nel 1998 ha stabilito il primato mondiale nel giro del mondo e può raggiungere velocità davvero elevate.

La Brigitte Bardot, l’intercettore che fa parte della flotta dell’organizzazione internazionale Sea Shepherd, capitanata da Paul Watson.

Sea Shepherd (www.seashepherd.it) è un’organizzazione internazionale senza scopo di lucro, consacrata alla protezione e alla conservazione della fauna marina e della biodiversità negli oceani del mondo, la cui caratteristica principale è l’azione diretta.

Fondata nel 1977, è stata protagonista di molteplici operazioni sul campo che la hanno resa popolare in ogni angolo del globo. Epiche, tanto per citare qualche episodio, le incursioni contro le baleniere giapponesi così come quelle ai danni delle mafie che controllano la pesca degli squali che, mutilati delle pinne, vengono ributtati in mare ancora vivi (shark finning).

Proveniente dalla Francia, il trimarano è da poco rientrato dall’operazione “Grindstop 2014” nelle Faroe Island, la più grande campagna di Sea Shepherd fino ad oggi contro il massacro di globi cefali che ha visto numerosi volontari in pattugliamento sul territorio e nelle acque delle Isole Faroe durante l’estate. Reduce anche dalla prima Campagna di Sea Shepherd Global sul territorio italiano (Operazione Siracusa) dove, in collaborazione con le autorità italiane, si è occupata della protezione dell’ Area Marina Protetta del Plemmirio.

La nave è un monoscafo stabilizzato lungo 35 metri. Nel 1998 ha stabilito il primato mondiale nel giro del mondo. E’ entrata far parte della flotta di Sea Shepherd nel 2010 e da subito è stata ribattezzata Brigitte Bardot in onore della grande attrice francese nota animalista che sostiene l’associazione fin dalla nascita.

Il trimarano ha partecipato anche a tre campagne antartiche. Nel 2009, infatti, la Brigitte Bardot ha preso parte alle operazioni No Compromise, Divine Wind e Zero Tolerance che hanno permesso di salvare circa 2500 balene. Nel 2012, dopo vari pattugliamenti nelle acque del nord, è stata impiegata nel sud del Pacifico per l’Operazione Requiem dedicata agli squali ed al commercio delle loro pinne.
