Il Rione Colonna vanta due stemmi : uno mostra tre curve su uno sfondo bianco , l’altro ritrae la colonna di Marco Aurelio. Passeggiando intorno a questo Rione , hai davvero la sensazione di toccare il cuore della città , infatti nel suo territorio si possono trovare alcuni dei più importanti monumenti e luoghi di Roma come il Pantheon , Ara Pacis , Campo Marzio , San Silvestro , Piazza del Parlamento , ecc.
Il Rione Colonna ha una forma strana , perché si trova al centro di altri cinque Rioni . Il lato occidentale è piatta perché copre parte delle antiche pavimentazioni del favoloso Campo Marzio , descritto da Strabonio come ‘ una delle Sette Meraviglie del Mondo . ‘ Il lato orientale , invece , è più stretta e sale fino al Pincio . Durante l’impero romano , questa parte della città è stata gestita esclusivamente dalla famiglia Antonini che aveva monumenti costruiti qui per celebrare il loro potere . Nel Medioevo , lo sviluppo graduale del centro della città iniziato da qui e comprendeva il Campo Marzio .
Questo Rione non è mai stata densamente popolata fino alla fine del 16 ° secolo, quando i nobili , insieme con le ricche famiglie romane , hanno cominciato a costruire molti palazzi lungo la via Lata ( oggi conosciuta come via del Corso ). RIONE_COLONNA01 Nello stesso periodo , via Felice ( oggi denominata via Sistina ) è stata aperta per collegare Pincio con la grande Rione Monti . Nel corso dei secoli 18 e 19 molti pittori e artisti hanno utilizzato le soffitte dagli edifici circostanti come monolocali , rendendo questa parte del Rione Colonna il quartiere degli artisti.

Il cuore del Rione Colonna , oggi come in passato , è piazza Colonna dove la colonna di Marco Aurelio si trova . Questa colonna è stata messo dal Senato romano per commemorare le vittorie di Marco Aurelio contro i Germanici e i Sarmati. Le battaglie contro queste popolazioni sono mostrate nel fregio che decora la colonna.
All’internodella colonna , c’è una scala a chiocciola con 190 scale e in cima c’era la statua dell’imperatore , purtroppo, è andata perduto durante il Medio Evo e papa Sisto V , nel 1589 , ha deciso di mettere in cima una statua di San Paolo realizzata da Leonardo Sanzana e Tommaso Della Porta.
Proprio dietro Piazza Colonna , c’è Palazzo Montecitorio , sede del Parlamento della Repubblica italiana . Il nome , Montecitorio , deriva dal latino Mons Acceptorius , una piccola collina artificiale creata in epoca pre-romana da parte degli abitanti di questa zona per drenare il terreno paludoso . Oggi , questa collina ha ridotto la sua altezza . Per raggiungerla si nota che la strada è leggermente in salita . Di fronte al Palazzo di Montecitorio si erge uno dei obelischi egiziani della città .

Non lontano da qui , c’è piazza di Pietra , un luogo molto caratteristico, dove un intero lato di un edificio del 17 ° secolo è coperto dai resti del tempio di Adriano ( 195 aC) . Queste undici colonne sono gli unici resti dell’antica struttura e probabilmente hanno potuto sopravvivere fino ad ora grazie all’idea di essi incarna in solida struttura dell’edificio .

RIONE_COLONNA03Il monumento più rilevante , nel Rione Colonna , è il Pantheon , uno dei più importanti antichi templi romani . Questo tempio era dedicato a tutte le divinità ( come significa il nome : Pan: tutti , teon : Dio). Menenio Agrippa lo costruì nel 25-27 dC . Tuttavia , l’edificio che vediamo oggi è una ricostruzione del 117-139 dC dall’imperatore Adriano dopo che il tempio fu gravemente danneggiata da diversi incendi che avevano molto spesso sparsi per la città . Nel 608 dC , fu donato al Papa ed è diventato una chiesa.
Il Pantheon cattolico si compone di due parti principali : una sala grande rotonda coperta da una magnifica cupola , la più grande mai costruita ( lungo 43,30 metri ) in tempi antichi e aveva ispirato molti architetti del Rinascimento , e un atrio rettangolare con colonne nella parte anteriore utilizzato come ingresso . All’interno, ci sono le tombe della famiglia Savoia e di grandi uomini come Raffaello .

Un altro simbolo di questo rione è l’ Ara Pacis . Si tratta di un altare costruito dal Senato romano nel 13 aC per celebrare la pace raggiunta nell’area del Mediterraneo da Augusto dopo le campagne vincitrici in Spagna e Gallia . E ‘ come una scatola rettangolare con la facciata esterna completamente incisa con splendide decorazioni . All’interno , una scala conduce all’altare . Durante il Medioevo il palazzo Fiano è stato costruito su questo sito , e quindi l’ Ara è stato dimenticato . E ‘stato scoperto nel 1568 , quando , in via del Corso , 9 blocchi scolpiti appartenenti al Ara sono stati scoperti . Nel 1859 altri pezzi scolpiti venuto fuori e, infine, nel 1903 regolari scavi archeologici iniziarono che portano alla scoperta del Ara . Semiamira

In epoca romana , nel Rione Colonna , c’era un edificio molto particolare costruito in cui la Chiesa di San Silvestro ora sorge , chiamato Senaculum . Era come un grande salotto dove Semiamira , madre dell’imperatore Eliogabalo , ha incontrato i più influenti dame romane per dettare legge sulla moda , acconciature e femminile ‘ bon ton ‘ . Alcune di queste norme relative al numero di baci che adatta una gentildonna e dei giorni della settimana in cui è stato ‘ charmant’ per i ricchi per permettere ai loro schiavi per farli muovere in città . Le decisioni prese in questo sito sono state ratificate in leggi vere e proprie chiamate ‘ Senatoconsulti Semiamiriani ‘ .
