Il Padiglione Italia rappresenta una delle principali attrazioni di Expo 2015 che si svolge a Milano. Uno spazio imponente il cui obiettivo è quello di comunicare al pubblico i valori e le eccellenze italiane. Il Padiglione Italia comprende il Palazzo Italia, quattro edifici sul Cardo e la Lake Arena, per un totale di 14.000 metri quadri.

Palazzo Italia sarà il cuore pulsante del Padiglione Italia: uno spazio vivo, creato per ospitare eventi al piano terra e spazi espositivi e di rappresentanza ai livelli superiori. L’edificio ospiterà al suo interno spazi istituzionali del Governo Italiano e le eccellenze del Made in Italy con un ristorante VIP al quarto piano e una terrazza panoramica. Un edificio tra i pochi a rimanere anche al termine dell’Expo e che vuole candidarsi ad essere un polo di innovazione e di progresso.

Avremo la mostra dell’identità italiana dove verranno esibite i  4 punti di forza, o potenze, italiane:
Il Saper Fare con 21 personaggi che racconteranno storie di italiani all’opera capaci di grandi imprese nei campi dell’arte e della manualità.

La potenza del Limite sarà invece l’occasione per raccontare storie di successo realizzate in contesti al limite appunto, una qualità tipica dello spirito italiano, con un focus particolare sull’agricoltura e l’artigianato.
La quarta potenza italiana è quella del Futuro che viene rappresentato da un Vivaio con 21 piante rappresentative delle Regioni d’Italia.

È il simbolo del Padiglione Italia, un’icona di femminilità e della sua forza di generare e di unire. Una struttura unica di acciaio e legno alta ben 37 metri visibile al centro del Lake Arena, ideata dal designer Marco Balich.
All’interno del Palazzo Italia saranno visibili anche i mercati ortofrutticoli italiani grazie a una mostra interattiva.
Altra grande e originale attrazione sarà lo spazio a cura dell’Unione Italiana Ciechi in cui sperimentare la tragica bellezza della cecità attraverso un’esperienza da vivere totalmente al buio in un lungo spazio di 100 metri.

Il Made in Italy e i suoi valori nel progetto architettonico

Il Padiglione Italia vuole essere un luogo vivo, un punto di incontro in cui poter comunicare il Made in Italy in tutte le sue forme.
Proprio per questo anche gli elementi costruttivi dovevano necessariamente richiamare questi valori.
Grande spazio quindi alle trasparenze del vetro e dei cristalli, un simbolo di dialogo e apertura verso il mondo.
Poi l’Energia, a simboleggiare l’energia dell’Italia ma anche il rispetto dell’ambiente. Palazzo Italia è infatti un edificio a impatto quasi zero grazie all’utilizzo di vetro fotovoltaico e alle proprietà fotocatalitiche del cemento utilizzato per l’involucro esterno, un cemento in grado di assorbire alcuni inquinanti presenti in atmosfera.
L’Acqua, la Natura e la Tecnologia sono gli altri elementi su cui ruota l’intero progetto nato per rappresentare una foresta urbana che racconta la storia delle eccellenze italiane proiettandole in un futuro dinamico e sostenibile.

Saranno gli spazi dedicati in particolare modo alle Regioni che potranno esporre le loro eccellenze agricole, turistiche ed enogastronomiche attraverso i grandi spazi della biblioteca e del convivio.
Nel Cardo Sud-Ovest verranno spiegati i concetti di filiera corta e di sostenibilità dello sviluppo. Nel Cardo Nord-Est sarà invece il vino il grande protagonista con un Padiglione del Vino a cura di Vinitaly in cui degustazioni e percorsi sensoriali accompagneranno i fortunati visitatori.
L’Unione Europea sarà ospitata sempre in questo spazio e si dedicherà a presentare uno degli alimenti cardine dell’alimentazione dell’uomo: il pane.
Gli spazi interni al Cardo saranno invece ottimizzati per esporre altre eccellenze tipiche del Bel Paese quali gelato, pizza, birra, acqua minerale, caffè, latticini e salumi.

L’emozione del gusto

Insomma, una visita d’obbligo, quella del Padiglione Italia, che saprà regalare cultura ed eccellenza ma soprattutto gustose emozioni.

Storia: Esposizione Internazionale del 1906 di Milano

È l’inizio del 900 quando a Milano si fa strada l’idea di organizzare una Esposizione Internazionale dedicata ai mezzi di trasporto su acqua. In seguito, per celebrare il completamento del traforo alpino del Sempione, venne l’idea di associare l”Esposizione al tema del trasporto in genere e di estenderlo alla partecipazione di tutto il mondo.

Inizialmente l’Expo avrebbe dovuto svolgersi nel 1905, ma il ritardo dei lavori del traforo del Sempione fece slittare la data al 1906.
Un comitato cittadino individuò nell’area verde retrostante il Castello Sforzesco (il cui nome divenne appunto Parco Sempione in omaggio al traforo) come quella più adatta per lo svolgimento di gran parte dell’evento, e fu lanciata una sottoscrizione pubblica per ottenere i fondi necessari.

L’Esposizione Internazionale di Milano fu solennemente inaugurata il 28 maggio del 1906.
Parteciparono ufficialmente e non oltre 40 nazioni, furono costruiti 225 edifici progettati dai più noti architetti dell’epoca presso l’attuale Parco Sempione e l’ex Piazza d’Armi (che a partire dal 1923 è stata sede della Fiera) e le due zone furono collegate con una modernissima ferrovia sospesa.
Nell’aprile dello stesso anno fu inoltre inaugurato, all’interno dell’Esposizione Internazionale, l’Acquario Civico di Milano, che ancora oggi rappresenta uno dei massimi esempi di liberty italiano.

Gli espositori, provenienti da tutte le parti del mondo, furono 35.000 e l’area complessiva occupata dall’Expo arrivò a un milione di metri quadri. Visitarono l’Esposizione circa 5 milioni e mezzo di persone.
Fu un evento epocale che rilanciò le potenzialità del Paese e permise alla città di Milano di ricavarsi un ruolo da protagonista sulla scena internazionale.
