Rudolf Nureyev, non e’ un danzatore e basta… Rudolf Nureyev e’ la danza fattasi uomo ! Su di lui le parole perdono significato, difficile definirlo come uomo e come artista. Un danzatore fuori dai canoni classici, quel classicismo rigido del balletto che con Nureyew ha preso vita ,dandogli quella dimensione di grandiosita’, che oggi viene riconosciuta alla danza, che grazie a Nureyew ,da arte di nicchia , diventa arte nazional – popolare.
Per chi ha avuto il dono di poterlo incontrare nella propria vita ,come e’ successo a me, e di conoscerlo, al di la’ delle mere considerazioni umane,
che puo’ enfatizzare i lati meno piacevoli di un individuo… e di Nureyew e’ riconosciuto il carattere quasi insostenibile , per i suoi capricci,le sue pretese come Etoile del balletto, il suo cinismo ed egoismo e la sua caparbieta’,nonche’ il suo grande egocentrismo… ma tutto scompare di fronte al suo talento divino, un talento che lo fa’ apparire quasi soprannaturale!

Rudolf Khametovich Nureyev (17 marzo 1938 – 6 gennaio 1993) è stato un balletto sovietico e danzatore e coreografo contemporaneo. È stato direttore del Balletto dell’Opera di Parigi dal 1983 al 1989 e il suo coreografo principale fino all’ottobre 1992.
Nureyev, che è il nome di Lord of the Dance, è considerato uno dei ballerini maschi più dotati del balletto.

Una vita, la sua , da sceneggiatura di un film, di quelle vite uniche ed irripetibili, che fai fatica anche solo ad immaginare!
Lasciò la Russia a 23 anni, dopo essere diventato molto famoso con il Balletto del Kirov a Leningrado, oggi San Pietroburgo. Si trasferì a Parigi, grazie a un episodio che cambiò la sua vita: nel 1961 il primo ballerino del Balletto del Kirov si infortunò e Nureyev fu chiamato a sostituirlo in una tournée in Europa. La sua prestazione esaltò pubblico e critica e da lì inizio la sua ascesa. Per le sue frequentazioni con gente straniera, considerate in modo sospetto dalla sua accademia, gli fu ordinato di rimpatriare. Nureyev, che era sempre stato un carattere molto ribelle, decise di non tornare, contraddicendo gli ordini e diventando un esule volontario. Rimase lontano dalla Russia per 27 anni, fino al 1987, quando tornò per trovare sua madre, gravemente malata, grazie a un permesso speciale.

Nel 1982 ottenne la cittadinanza austriaca e qualche anno dopo, grazie alla sua amica e compagna di molte esibizioni, la ballerina inglese Margot Fonteyn, venne introdotto al Royal Ballet di Londra: insieme reinterpretarono alcuni balletti fondamentali, come il Lago dei cigni e Giselle. Furono gli anni più movimentati per Nureyev, sia nelle relazioni, sia con se stesso. Viveva una vita piena di eccessi e spese folli, si strappava i costumi di scena, sputava ai fotografi, prendeva a calci le auto della polizia. Anche i suoi abiti lo rendevano spettacolare e quest’anno, a vent’anni dalla morte, verranno esposti in una serie di mostre in tutto il mondo, per ricordarlo. Ninette de Valois, coreografa del Balletto di Covent Garden di Londra lo definì «l’effetto isterico della libertà».

Nonostante il suo carattere e il suo temperamento, Nureyev era dotato di talento, bellezza e fascino riconosciuti da tutti. Continuò a ballare anche dopo aver compiuto quarant’anni, interpretando sempre ruoli da protagonista nei grandi balletti classici. Ebbe un ruolo molto influente nel mondo della danza classica, soprattutto per quanto riguardava il ruolo maschile nel balletto, che fino ad allora era considerato un semplice supporto alle interpreti femminili. Quando divenne coreografo (fu anche direttore del balletto dell’Opera di Parigi, negli anni Ottanta) dette lui stesso maggior spazio ai ballerini maschi. Fu anche uno dei primi a rompere quella divisione netta che c’era tra il balletto classico e la danza moderna, esibendosi in entrambi.

Nonostante la sua dichiarata omosessualità, le donne lo amavano e lo aspettavano per ore, in coda, fuori dall’Opéra National di Parigi, il teatro dove lavorò negli ultimi anni della sua carriera e della sua vita. Contrasse il virus dell’HIV nei primi anni anni Ottanta: per un po’ di tempo negò che ci fosse qualcosa di strano riguardo alla sua salute, fino al 1990, quando la malattia si manifestò più intensamente. Continuò però a rifiutare qualsiasi tipo di cura.

Molti tra quelli che lo avevano criticato gli riconobbero negli ultimi anni di vita un grande coraggio, per come affrontò la malattia, senza mai abbandonare la danza: nella sua ultima uscita pubblica, nel 1992 all’Opéra National di Parigi, per la messa in scena della sua ultima opera Bayadère, salì sul palco reggendosi letteralmente ai ballerini, ormai senza più forze, venendo accolto da lunghi applausi. Morì a Parigi il 6 gennaio 1993.
Fu’ proprio nei primi anni 90″ che ebbi la fortuna di incontrarlo e di conoscerlo,malgrado i segni visibili della malattia, la sua anima libera e il suo carisma erano rimasti intatti, rimarra’ per sempre il Re della danza, con un eleganza ed un virtuosismo tecnico e Talento ineguagliabile, che lo innalza quasi a “Creatura Divina”, e forse mai piu’l’umanita’ conoscera’ un danzatore cosi’!

Nella sua carriera da Art Director, ha diretto Televisioni,Radio,Magazine,Teatri, e grandi Star della Musica e dello Spettacolo, tra cui la Pop Star Inglese Boy George,per il suo Tour Mondiale negli anni 90", la vincitrice di The Voice of Italy Sister Cristina, e altri artisti come : Franco Simone, Teo Mammuccari, Fabrizio Frizzi, Antonella Ponziani, Claudia Koll...
