Il Meccanico che stregò Ferrari (Giorgio Nada Editore, 2021). Questo libro, fortemente voluto dall’imprenditore bolognese Francesco Amante, è scritto da lui a quattro mani con il giornalista sportivo Lodovico Basalù. L’evento, realizzato in collaborazione con Librerie Coop Ambasciatori, vedrà come relatori i due autori, l’Ing. Mauro Forghieri, progettista e direttore tecnico della Scuderia Ferrari, Luciano Rizzoli, socio di Sauro Mingarelli, Francesca Mingarelli, la figlia e infine Stefano Nada, editore del libro. Sauro Mingarelli era detto “Il Rosso”, il colore delle Ferrari che sono passate nella sua officina di Bologna che è autentico riferimento per gli appassionati di auto da corsa di tutto il mondo. Il meccanico Mingarelli affascinò Enzo Ferrari, tanto che pur essendo sempre stataoun “meccanico indipendente” ha potuto lòavorare su quasi tutte le auto stradali e da corsa uscite dalla fabbrica Ferrari di Maranello. L’officina di Bologna aperta con il socio e amico Luciano Rizzoli era frequentata  da maggiori campioni , come Ray Ragazzone, ma sopratutto meta ambita per tutti di  automobilismo , frequentata da collezionisti e appassionati da tuitto ilo mondo.

In ultimo, proprio grazie all’enorme professionalità e competenza di Mingarelli, molte delle auto d’epoca che oggi sono custodite nei diversi musei della Motor Valley, sono tornate ad antico splendore,
Il libro ripercorre questa affascinate quanto poco nota storia facendo luce su un personaggio che ha legato la propria storia a doppio filo con quella della Ferrari e del suo artefice.

Il volume, il primo e unico in Italia, ripercorre la vita di Sauro Mingarelli. Un uomo nato a Grizzana Morandi, nel cuore dell’appennino bolognese, che ha pian piano dato vita ad un’officina ben nota ai possessori di varie Gran Turismo di Maranello entrate nella storia. Sauro è stato capace di entrare nelle grazie di Enzo Ferrari, fondatore dell’omonima casa automobilistica, la cui sezione sportiva, la Scuderia Ferrari, conquistò in Formula 1 (con lui ancora in vita) 9 campionati del mondo piloti e 8 campionati del mondo costruttori.

 

Pronto, sin da ragazzino, ad immergersi, da semplice apprendista, nel mondo che istintivamente amava e che ha sempre amato, ossia quello dei motori, fino alla sua scomparsa, avvenuta prematuramente nel 2004: una costante scalata, quella di Sauro, che lo portò ad avere, nella Bologna degli anni sessanta, l’assistenza ufficiale della Ferrari.

 

Il libro “Sauro Il Rosso” (dal colore dei suoi capelli e dall’amore per il Cavallino) racconta l’uomo, il meccanico, l’appassionato che ha legato a doppio filo il proprio nome a quello di Ferrari e delle sue vetture, fino a far diventare la sua officina di via Cremona (dove si trova oggi a Bologna) una delle più note al mondo.

L’officina, guidata da Sauro insieme al socio Luciano Rizzoli, per oltre mezzo secolo ha accolto imprenditori, artisti, attori, cantanti, vip e piloti che hanno fatto restaurare o semplicemente controllare le loro Ferrari da Sauro, abilissimo anche nei collaudi.

Due uomini uniti per 46 anni, Sauro e Luciano, che si compensavano l’un l’altro, come racconta proprio Rizzoli nelle pagine del libro. Sauro sempre duro, dal carattere per nulla facile, ma capace di relazionarsi con chiunque, Luciano abituato a notti insonni pur di terminare il montaggio di un motore. Insomma una lunga storia, che si articola anche con quella della Ferrari e delle sue imprese, molte delle quali firmate dall’Ing. Mauro Forghieri, progettista di autentici capolavori a quattro ruote, come la P4 del 1967 o la 312 T di F.1 del 1975.

Nel libro si racconta anche la grande amicizia di Sauro con molti piloti delle rosse, dall’indimenticato Clay Regazzoni, uno dei tanti che portava la sua Daytona o la F40 nell’officina felsinea, a Jacky Ickx. Sauro era del resto spesso sulle piste di tutto il mondo, sin da quando, a fine anni cinquanta, si mise a seguire il bolognese Bruno Deserti, una grande speranza di quel periodo, purtroppo scomparso mentre provava una Ferrari P2 a Monza, nel 1965.

 

E non manca, nel libro, una panoramica sulla Regione Emilia-Romagna, sui suoi tanti musei, le sue collezioni, i suoi restauri e scuole d’artigianato oltre agli autodromi. Un capitolo è poi dedicato alla storia della Ferrari, alla 24 ore di Le Mans, ai duelli con Ford e Porsche, in attesa del ritorno di una rossa sul circuito francese nel 2023.
