Moussavou Ngoma Jean François (Palestrina, classe 1988), meglio conosciuto come Ciarz è un cantautore e rapper italiano nato nella provincia di Roma, da madre Capoverdiana e padre Gabonese. Nella sua musica influenze da ogni direzione: dalle radici africane dei genitori al pop rock italiano che ha accompagnato la sua adolescenza. Nato in Italia impara a destreggiarsi con il suo primo strumento, la chitarra, all’età di 8 anni. Cresce con il pop e il rock italiano e internazionale, finché non scopre il rap a 10 anni. Scrive il suo primo testo a 13 anni e da allora ha militato in varie formazioni continuando a coltivare progetti personali.Ciarz Nel nuovo singolo Nigga Funk, Ciarz si immedesima (nella prima e terza strofa) in un ragazzo di colore che, per reazione all’essere stato vittima di razzismo in giovane età, perde il senno e cerca di diventare un membro del moderno KKK (truccandosi il viso per non mostrare la sua etnia) con l’intento di dare sfogo al suo odio e alla sua follia con una repressione etnica sui neri in Italia. Nella seconda strofa invece interpreta Frank D., cioè il suo alter ego, che cerca di convincerlo a ragionare meglio sulle sue azioni. Sia il testo sia il video del brano sono ispirati a “Mississippi Burning – Le radici dell’odio”, un film del 1988, diretto da Alan Parker e interpretato da Gene Hackman e Willem Dafoe, che racconta l’assassinio degli attivisti per i diritti civili del Mississippi. Nigga Funk sarà incluso nel nuovo album di prossima pubblicazione.

Il suo nuovo singolo Nigga Funk ha dei chiari riferimenti sociali e culturali, cosa ha voluto raccontare con quel testo?
La conflittualità intrinseca in ogni ragazzo che nasce e cresce in un paese in cui le persone non hanno il tuo stesso colore della pelle (quindi un puro problema estetico). Quando sei piccolo neanche te ne rendi conto, poi arrivano le scuole e incominci a sentire che ti senti parte di una cultura che non ti riconosce (può anche essere non vero, ma è quello che percepisci), chiami fratelli persone che non si sentono imparentate a te e rischi di cullare un odio che è solo il riflesso della paura di non essere accettato. Entri nell’autocommiserazione, inciampando sistematicamente su una coda di paglia che ti trascini dietro e che cresci di giorno in giorno.Ciarz
Si sente più come un qualsiasi ragazzo italiano di periferia o la sua storia familiare la rende una sorta di portavoce dei migranti e dei 2G in Italia?
Mi sento portavoce di chi capisce che inventiamo differenze che non esistono. Mi sento portavoce di chi capisce che inventiamo uguaglianze che non esistono. Che le etnie determinino disuguaglianze è palese anche ai bambini, ma non sono quelle che tanta gente crede. La nostra pelle e diversa ma ciò non fa di me un assassino. Almeno non più di qualunque altro individuo presente sulla terra. Il nostro corpo è diverso, le nostre culture sono diverse, le nostre prestazioni sportive sono differenti, ma questo non fa di me una persona superiore o inferiore a te. Siamo diversi! Con tutta la bellezza che ciò comporta. Restiamo però uguali nelle possibilità di scelta nella vita. Possiamo entrambi diventare medici senza frontiere o prendere un fucile ed andare a fare una rapina. Insomma abbiamo entrambi lo stesso libero arbitrio. Giudichiamoci per ciò che facciamo e non per ciò che sembriamo.
Nella sua scrittura o nella scelta delle musiche, si sente influenzato dalla cultura africana dei suoi genitori?
Io mi sento italianissimo culturalmente parlando, l’influenza della cultura materna e paterna le percepisco più che altro come un istinto di ritorno alle origini. Forse quando ero in fasce i miei mi facevano ascoltare musica africana, non so. Ma di sicuro sono molto attirato da quelle sonorità.
Vede una differenza sostanziale tra la scena musicale rap tra Roma e Milano?
Sono come ristoranti differenti. Milano è il ristorante costoso, Roma è la trattoria. C’è chi ama andare a farsi coccolare al ristorante, vestito elegante, dove non si può alzare la voce o avere atteggiamenti non consoni al galateo. C’è invece chi ama andare a mangiare con il costume da bagno ancora bagnato dopo una giornata al mare. Mangiare piatti semplici e belli abbondanti, bere in quantità un vino senza etichetta e urlare da un tavolo all’altro con gli amici di infanzia. Il mondo chiede alle due diverse scene musicali di esistere perché il mercato è giusto che sia vario, con i vantaggi e gli svantaggi di entrambe le realtà. Solo perché ora vanno maggiormente di moda i ristoranti, non vuol dire che sarà sempre così.
Ci sono artisti romani che l’hanno particolarmente ispirata nel suo percorso?
Ci sono artisti romani che apprezzo e che mi posso aver influenzato per l’ammirazione che gli porto. Tra tutti c’è Er Costa, che purtroppo non si fa sentire così spesso. Amo anche Rancore con i suoi infiniti viaggi mentali. Gemitaiz lo apprezzo per la semplicità con cui ha scritto e scrive alcuni dei suoi pezzi. Da quando suona a Milano rappresenta una trattoria che sopravvive su una via di ristoranti alla moda.
Ci può parlare nel nuovo cd in uscita?
Affunk e un tuffo nel mio subconscio, nelle mia paure e tra i mie demoni (di questo mi sono reso conto a fine master). La maggior parte dei testi li ho scritti in pieno “flusso di coscienza”, cioè, mi sedevo alla scrivania e scrivevo, senza sapere di che cosa. In questo modo ho tirato fuori un me che nascondo di fronte agli altri. “Per mia colpa, mia colpa, mia grandissima colpa” è una citazione che ho mancato di mettere in tutti i brani. Ora so che posso andare avanti perché so chi sono. Non voglio più fingere di essere un altro me.
Il disco è scritto interamente da me, co-prodotto con di Intiman (Inti d’Ayala Valva, e in realtà a fatto quasi tutto lui), distribuito da Bandabackers (etichetta indipendente community based), riarrangiato live con la CiarzBand (si, non mi accontento più del solo dj sul palco).
