Una delle tante domande che turisti e viaggiatori si pongono non appena mettono piede all’estero è: “Quale tariffa telefonica è attiva qui?”. Ciò che non sanno è che, nella maggior parte dei casi, gli operatori telefonici italiani hanno stipulato accordi con gli operatori esteri, rendendo il passaggio quasi automatico.

Difatti, nei paesi dell’Unione Europea, gli utenti possono usufruire del roaming internazionale, senza preoccuparsi di attivare una nuova tariffa.

Ma vediamo più approfonditamente di cosa si tratta.

Il roaming internazionale: cos’è e come funziona

Il roaming internazionale non è altro che un accordo stipulato tra differenti operatori telefonici, italiani ed esteri. Grazie a questo accordo, gli utenti hanno la possibilità di usufruire di un servizio di telecomunicazione continuo, senza spese aggiuntive riguardanti la tariffa telefonica; in poche parole, possono continuare liberamente a inviare sms, chiamare e navigare su internet senza limiti.

Quindi, nel momento in cui ci si trova in un paese estero, basta attivare il roaming internazionale sul proprio cellulare accedendo alle impostazioni del dispositivo. Così facendo, si può continuare a beneficiare della propria tariffa telefonica collegandosi alla rete che l’operatore estero concede.

In conclusione, se hai in programma di fare un viaggio all’estero, in un paese europeo, non dovrai né cercare una nuova offerta mobile né una nuova SIM. Quest’ultima infatti, rimane comunque attiva grazie al roaming.

Tuttavia, ricordati che questo discorso vale solo per brevi permanenze. Nel caso in cui il tuo viaggio durasse più di 3/4 mesi, l’operatore potrebbe rilevare un uso prolungato della SIM all’estero e ridurre la quantità di GB disponibili o aumentare il prezzo della tariffa.  Quindi prima della partenza vale la pena recarsi presso un punto vendita WindTre a Roma o di altro provider così da richiedere tutte le info utili.

Quanto costa utilizzare il roaming internazionale?

L’utilizzo del roaming internazionale in Europa non prevede alcun costo. La Commissione Europea, nel 2017, ha infatti imposto agli operatori telefonici di non applicare sovrapprezzi.

Questo significa che, anche se ti trovi all’estero, non dovrai preoccuparti di maggiorazioni o costi aggiuntivi per la tariffa telefonica.

Ci sono però delle eccezioni: gli utenti hanno un numero limitato di GB che possono utilizzare e la gratuità del roaming è garantita solo se la permanenza all’estero è temporanea.

In ogni caso, ti consigliamo di verificare quali sono le condizioni previste dal tuo attuale gestore (soprattutto, per conoscere quanti GB gratis disponibili include la tua tariffa).

Come cambiare operatore fuori dall’Unione Europea?

Come abbiamo visto, il roaming internazionale è presente solo ed unicamente nei paesi dell’Unione Europea. Quindi, nel momento in cui si viaggia in altri paesi o continenti, nella maggior parte dei casi è necessario cambiare SIM oppure attivare una nuova tariffa mobile. Ma non c’è da preoccuparsi!

La maggior parte degli operatori telefonici propone tariffe appositamente formulate per chi deve viaggiare all’estero. Tuttavia, in questa circostanza, è sempre meglio richiedere informazioni telefonicamente oppure recandosi presso uno store per ricevere tutte le indicazioni utili del caso.

In alternativa, puoi inoltrare una richiesta per ottenere una SIM card internazionale. Quest’ultima ha un costo che va da un minimo di €10 ad un massimo di €20, e ti consente di chiamare chiunque tu voglia in oltre 200 nazioni.

Non è possibile stabilire quale delle due opzioni sia la migliore, poiché la risposta varia a seconda delle tue esigenze!
