Not only sequins shines the life of a performer. Albadoro Gala, she was still a career woman, immersed in a lifestyle anything but feminine when, during a visit to his hometown, a lady has lightened his life. Its way. Its future. As? Explains Angelica Massafra, mind of the Caput Mundi International Burlesque Award, staged in Rome from 6 to 8 November 2015.
“She was a lady from Puglia dressed in black, who was peeling potatoes sitting in a chair, in an alley, called Albadoro. I approached explaining that my name was Angelica and I was the daughter of Albadoro Gala. In response, a few seconds later, she called me back with the name of my mother. I continued my walk, but after a few seconds, darkness took over. Before a sharp pain. Quick steps behind me. And then waking up in the hospital where I was informed: the Lady Mary (the woman who was peeling potatoes sitting in the chair) I had skewered with a potato peeler. Now the episode is funny. But the confidence to die for a madman who will swap for your mother, her rival in love in the fifties, she made me reflect on my life. The choices to please everyone but me. So I decided to change my life and to finally do something for myself. I didn’t know what to do.
After a long stay in Rome, I went back to my work and the fate gave me another sign. I was stopped in the street by a talent scout of “Lady of Burlesque” (a talent show dedicated to burlesque then aired on Sky Tv, which launched me other than already established performers like Rita Lynch and Vesper July). They were looking for women who, like me, had to do with the entertainment industry to recruit for the TV show. Driven by curiosity, fun and looking for high after the unfortunate attack, I auditioned. It was sort of filmed interview about my life. Taken from everyday life and from work, I soon forgot about the audition, but after a month, the editors of Sky Tv contacted me: I was in!
Now what do I do? I thought … but, I eliminate the first episode and goodnight. I had to choose a name. Albadoro Gala I immediately flashed to my mind, the name of the woman more feminine and beautiful I’ve ever seen, my mother. And the name that fate had me brutally shown the way. The show? I won the first episode and many others. The next day I received a letter of dismissal caused by my unforgivable succinct appearance on TV !! Given the situation, I have continued this adventure to the end of the transmission, and later was even better. I did not have to do anything but respond to requests for booking worldwide.
During my first appearance, which coincided with my first performance, I realized it was what I wanted to do forever and that nothing made me happier, and that I would never put my happiness in the background “. The rest? It is in the festival. Where you can breathe the Albadoro Gala spirit but also other performers.
The appointment therefore is Friday, November 6, 2015 at the Teatro Central (via Celsa 6), Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Speakeasy Burly Via Veneto and Sunday, November 8, 2015 at The Yellow via Palestro 44.
