A film about one of the world’s most famous loves is coming to theaters on Valentine’s Day.
Directed by Giovanni Veronesi (who continues to collaborate with Pilar Fogliati after his film “Romantiche”), this very light comedy, reminiscent of great American comedies (Tootsie, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Victor Victoria) with an identity swap highlighted in the title, is a film that leaves the audience very satisfied.

With excellent locations and beautiful direction (which even manages to make theoretically more static scenes shot inside the theater more lively), the film tells the story of the staging of Shakespeare’s classic by the great director Federico Landi Porrini, played by the great Sergio Castellitto, who brings to the stage all the quirks of directors “with scarves and without” (as he says in the press conference), who is looking for a grand conclusion to his career now coming to an end.
So here are the audition scenes, where among unlikely actors and actresses, perfect Vittoria emerges (but is precluded due to a mistake in her career)… and here is the madness, aided by her makeup artist friend (Geppi Cucciari), she transforms into a perfect Romeo.
The rest is a series of small problems and unforeseen events generated by this transformation, accompanied by excellent supporting actors (Margherita Buy, Alessandro Haber, Maurizio Lombardi, Domenico Diele, and Serena De Ferrari) until a surprise ending that turns Shakespeare’s tragedy upside down and gives the most classic of “happily ever after”.. because in the end, lovers must think positively.

An actress brutally rejected by a cynical theater director when auditioning to play Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet” decides to transform into a man to audition for Romeo and gets the part.

SYNOPSIS

The renowned theater director Federico Landi Porrini (Sergio Castellitto) is in search of his Romeo and Juliet for the production that should definitively cement his prestige and conclude his career. Among the candidates stands out Vittoria (Pilar Fogliati), who is excluded due to a shadow from her past.

Determined to still secure a role in the show and with the complicity of her makeup artist friend (Geppy Cucciari), the young actress decides to audition under a false identity to showcase her talent. This leads her to transform into Otto Novembre, audition for the role of Romeo, and successfully obtain the part.

It doesn’t seem too complicated for her to play someone else, both on stage and behind the scenes, even when her boyfriend (Domenico Diele) is chosen to play the role of Mercutio. However, embodying a man will allow her to discover many things about herself, but above all about the people around her.
