Kazuki Takamatsu è il giovane artista giapponese che porta nella capitale la sua tecnica del depth-mapping (una fusione di disegno classico, aerografo e pittura gouache con la grafica digitale) con una mostra alla Dorothy Circus Gallery.

Dal  14 Febbraio al 4 Aprile 2015 la galleria di via dei Pettinari 76, in pieno centro tra Campo de’ fiori e via Giulia ripropone per la seconda volta nei suoi spazi i lavori di Takamatsu nella personale “Even a Doll Can Do It” con una serie inedita di 15 tele.

Nei dipinti compaiono corpi di donne per metà bambole, sospese nell’abisso tridimensionale che prende vita dalle meticolose sfumature di bianco e nero tratto distintivo dell’artista, già presentato nel 2013. Vedremo quindi giovani scolarette illuminate ai raggi X che stringono in mano pistole, con il capo vestito di un’aura celestiale, in un immaginario artistico che trae ispirazione dalla cultura popolare e dalle sue antiche radici. Attraverso l’uso degli innumerevoli livelli di trasparenze create dalla tecnica gouache mescolata all’acrilico, l’artista crea opere dalla presenza dominante caratterizzate da un effetto “Ologramma”, eseguito interamente a mano “capace di avvolgere completamente lo spettatore nell’energia di una metaforica danza di enfatizzate contrapposizioni”.

A caratterizzare le opere di Takamatsu la scelta monocromatica, che sintetizza simbolicamente il bene e il male e “il margine dove non c’è nè luce nè ombra”, unita ad una meticolosa tecnica pittorica: le sue figure, emerse dall’acqua, sembrano muoversi in un intimo spazio costantemente dominato dal senso di speranza e dalla rinascita della consapevolezza del dolore.

Infatti, “l’artista possiede una sua particolare sensibilità e visione degli stati d’animo delle giovani donne giapponesi, dei loro pensieri e dei loro sentimenti. Questo lo rende capace di dar vita a soggetti femminili che rappresentano allo stesso tempo il potere dello sviluppo tecnologico e il triste monito nel ricordo dei terremoti, degli tsunami e dell’alto tasso di suicidi del Giappone”.

Takamatsu sarà presente per incontrare i numerosi fans e collezionisti e per loro firmerà le copie della prima monografia dedicata alla sua arte, curata dalla Dorothy Circus Gallery e pubblicata dalla casa editrice Drago Publishing.

Durante l’inaugurazione il 14 febbraio, 7.30 pm. , la Dorothy Circus Gallery insieme con la Drago Publishing presenteranno anche “The Doors of Perception”, terzo volume della collana annuale della Dorothy Circus Gallery che ha scelto Takamatsu per la cover. All’interno del volume, le mostre: “Daphne Descends” – Alessia Iannetti, “13 Fortune” – Paolo Guido, “God is Her Deejay” – Sas & Colin Christian, Afarin Sajedi, Francesca R. Di Nunzio, “White Elegy” – Kwon Kyungyup, “Because I’m a Doll” – Kazuki Takamatsu, “Hide & Seek” – Natalie Shau, “Lacrima Aquarium” – group exhibition, and focus on Chris Berens, “The Silent Circus” – Clementine De Chabaneix, “The Trouble with Angels” – Ray Caesar.

Kazuki Takamatsu

Il trentaseienne Takamatsu è nato e risiede in Giappone, un paese conosciuto per i suoi paesaggi pittoreschi e per l’alto tasso di suicidi. Un dualismo, questo, che contribuisce a permeare i suoi lavori di meravigliosa tristezza.
Studia discipline pittoriche al dipartimento di Pittura a olio alla Tohoku University of Art and Designs, conseguendo la laurea nel 2001. Oggi vive e lavora a Sendai, che fu distrutta nel 2011 dal terremoto e dallo tsunami di Tohoku. Dal 2009 collabora con la galleria Tomura di Tokio, con la quale ha preso parte alla Tokio Art Fair e all’Art Asia Miami durante Scope Art Fair. Le sue opere sono state esposte anche al Rias Ark Museum a Kesennuma, Miyagi, ed  hanno riscosso un grandissimo successo di pubblico e di collezionisti nelle prestigiose gallerie statunitensi come RoqLaRue a Seattle e Corey Helford a Los Angeles.

Con l’italiana Dorothy Circus Gallery è alla seconda mostra personale (2013; 2015) ed ha partecipato a “Lacrima Acquarium” (2013), esposizione collettiva istituzionale tenutasi presso il Museo dell’Acquario Romano – Casa dell’Architettura di Roma. Nel 2014 ha conquistato la copertina del popolare magazine americano Hi Fr.

Il processo creativo di Takamatsu inizia con lo Shadow/Depth Mapping , una sorta di processo di shadowing proiettivo con cui le ombre vengono aggiunte alla computer grafica 3D utilizzato sia nelle scene pre-renderizzate, sia nel tempo reale e in molte console e giochi per PC.

Gli oggetti monocromatici, dipinti a mano, sono ottenuti mescolando acquerelli con un pigmento bianco coprente attraverso un conduttore ad acqua (gomma arabica). Questo metodo è tradizionalmente indicato come Guazzo, nome proveniente dal termine italiano, letteralmente “fango”.
Il Guazzo è ideale per l’illustrazione e per la fotoriproduzione. Poiché la vernice Gouache conferisce la maggior parte della texture e queste superfici contribuiscono a creare un film di vernice perfettamente piatta, i dipinti a Gouache sono in genere realizzati su carta stampata a caldo o tavole lisce.

Il perfetto senso di profondità dato dalle sfumature di cui sono composte le ombre, è ottenuto con un attento studio dei pixel che sono resi visibili dalla luce e della tridimensionalità delle immagini che sembrano acquisire una forma tangibile. In questo modo ogni pixel sull’oggetto ha una sfumatura che è proporzionale alla sua distanza dalla fonte di luce e dall’occhio di chi guarda, così da apparire reale, come un Ologramma ed evocare uno stupefacente senso di profondità.
