On 17 February 2022, Giuseppe Tornatore’s documentary Ennio, presented out of competition at the last Venice Film Festival, will be released in cinemas. Previews are scheduled for 29 and 30 January of this work which pays tribute to a great Italian Maestro, known throughout the world for having composed the soundtracks for so many films that have made cinema history. The documentary is a kind of audiovisual novel rich in testimonies from friends and collaborators, including his official biographer Alessandro De Rosa, who is a composer.

“I enthusiastically participated in this initiative because Ennio Morricone strongly wanted it when he was still alive, and because Giuseppe Tornatore, whom I respect very much, also wanted me to be part of his story and his prestigious cast as what I have become over time, through work, study and dedication: Ennio Morricone’s biographer”. – Alessandro De Rosa

Alessandro De Rosa is co-author with Ennio Morricone of his autobiography in conversation ‘Ennio Morricone – Inseguendo quel suono. My music, my life. Conversations with Alessandro De Rosa” (Mondadori Libri, 2016, 2020, 2021), a book born from years of meetings between Ennio Morricone and the young composer structured as a rich and intense dialogue in which they talk about the Maestro’s life, his musical work and the way they continuously come into contact and influence each other. In Italy, the book is already in its third reprinting (the third took place in October 2021) and has been translated into many of the world’s most spoken languages, gaining the approval of various Italian and international personalities. Editions in Arabic, Persian, Chinese, Russian, Korean and Japanese will soon be published.

“It is without a shadow of a doubt the best book about me, the most authentic, the most detailed and the most edited. The truest” – Ennio Morricone

“This book reveals the powerful personality behind his brilliant work and will be rewarding reading for anyone interested in the magic of music in film.” – John Williams
