From 11 October to 2 November 2014 comes to Vallerano, a jewel of medieval Tuscia, the long-awaited Chestnut Festival, a veritable feast for four consecutive weekends will celebrate the fruit of the land since 2009 has been inscribed by the European Union in the Register of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and is returned in 115 Italian agri-food products of Italian excellence.
A unique opportunity to discover the flavors and traditional recipes with a rich calendar of events that take turns tasting and cognitive pathways to cultural events of all kinds.
As every year in October means for us the Chestnut Festival and Brown – says the young and active Vallerano Mayor Maurizio Gregori – And just in time to preserve the beauty of our chestnut I take this opportunity to reiterate the commitment of ‘municipal administration to safeguard the territory, especially in this period of difficulty for producers of chestnuts.
Few of you know that there are in fact a Vallerano about 635 acres of trees and chestnut trees with fascinating forests and the cultivation of the Chestnut is widely documented after the year one thousand; Today, it is a great quality product and a substantial resource for the local people and should be preserved but also widespread in every way. For this reason, for thirteen years, and again this year, tourists defendants have the opportunity to taste a genuine product and other local specialties either in the country, where they will be distributed “chestnuts” to warm the hearts and physicists from the autumn chill , both in features tuff (where once were preserved chestnuts and wine) that will be opened especially in the days of the festival with special menus at a fixed price. Calendarizzate will also be guided tours of the historic center as well as a lovely walk in the chestnut, scheduled Nov. 1.
The event is organized by the Friends of the Chestnut Vallerano that, through a special theme to guide distributed on this occasion also provides a recipe on chestnut and a series of “curiosity eno-gastro-tourist” in order to fully appreciate this significant cultural initiative designed to stimulate our five senses.
