IL CORPO DELLA VOCE” sarà in mostra a Palazzo delle Esposizioni fino al 30 giugno 2019. Un viaggio insolito attraverso la voce intesa come pura potenzialità sonora, dove la parola è separata dal suono. Un percorso basato su un approccio scientifico e sperimentale attraverso i lavori della cantante mezzosoprano Cathy Berberian (1925-1983), dell’attore e regista Carmelo Bene (1937–2002) e del musicista-cantante Demetrio Stratos. Tre artisti, rappresentanti significativi delle avanguardie del Novecento, e un momento storico in cui la ricerca ha superato la tradizione.

IL SUONO E LE SUE POTENZIALITA’

La potenzialità espressiva della voce è un tema ancora oggi aperto a molteplici interpretazioni. Proprio nella società dominata dall’immagine si insinua prepotentemente la voce come espressione unica con tutte le sue sfumature. Il terreno su cui attecchisce questa mostra, infatti, è sia materiale che etereo, femminile e maschile, poetico e filosofico, artistico e umano.

In mostra più di 120 opere tra foto, video, materiali di repertorio, partiture originali, corrispondenze, documenti esposti per la prima volta al pubblico oltre a exhibit interattivi, aree di ascolto e apparecchiature elettroniche utilizzate dagli artisti al fine di esplorare i limiti delle proprie possibilità vocali. Tutto questo materiale è di facile interpretazione per gli addetti ai lavori e uno stimolo a nuovi approfondimenti per i visitatori neofiti.

La mostra è arricchita da due sezioni scientifiche: la prima, introduttiva, curata da Franco Fussi, medico-chirurgo, specialista in Foniatria e Otorinolaringoiatria, offrirà ai visitatori un’accurata analisi dell’interno della cavità di risonanza dove si configura la voce nella sua carnalità. La seconda, curata da Graziano Tisato, ricercatore presso l’Istituto di Scienze e Tecnologie della Cognizione (ISTC) – CNR di Padova, si trova all’interno della sezione Stratos e consta di tre postazioni interattive realizzate ad hoc per la mostra, attraverso le quali sarà possibile approfondire la comprensione degli effetti vocali prodotti dall’artista.

GLI ESPERIMENTI VOCALI DI STRATOS, BERBERIAN E BENE

Muovendosi con naturalezza fra i vari ambiti della performance, poesia, musica e teatro, Demetrio Stratos avvia una rigorosa indagine scientifica volta a sondare le proprie potenzialità. Nel 1976 collabora con il Centro di Studio per le ricerche di fonetica del CNR di Padova, e rivolge la sua attenzione allo studio del pensiero psicoanalitico freudiano e alla pratica di tecniche vocali extraeuropee. Le foto di Silvia Lelli sulle bocche di Stratos sono l’esemplificazione visiva dei temi in mostra.

Negli anni Cinquanta la ricerca di una nuova vocalità è perseguita anche da Cathy Berberian nell’ambito delle sperimentazioni elettroniche ma non solo. Con la sua capacità di esercitare stili di canto diversi e di mettere in atto una vocalità carica di espressività, l’artista diventa stimolo creativo per molti.

Un simile interesse per la voce spinge Carmelo Bene, fin dagli anni Sessanta, a indagare le possibilità espressive dei mezzi di campionatura, amplificazione e restituzione del suono. I teatri classici venivano così trasformati in enormi cavità orali. Sono questi gli anni in cui la voce prende sempre più corpo, in cui Bene si consacra macchina attoriale: meno scena e più voce come puro ascolto.

Eventi speciali, rassegne cinematografiche, laboratori, giornate per famiglie e bambini sul tema della voce accompagneranno la mostra. A dimostrazione che la voce è uno strumento di comunicazione trasversale ed universale per tutti.
