Warner Bros Pictures presents the film “A Star is Born“, in association with Live Nation Productions and Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures, a Jon Peters / Bill Gerber / Joint Effort production. In cinemas from 5 October 2018, and in Italy from 11 October 2018, the film is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros.

Bradley Cooper’s first feature, A STAR IS BORN, is a dramatic and romantic film about a folk singer, sympathetic, generous, fragile, alcoholic-and-not-only, who a day he meets-discovers Ally, a young girl with an extraordinary voice (it’s Lady Gaga: the former mega diva pop of the millenials!) and makes her debut in one of his concerts in fresh-faced version. The two immediately love each other as never before. Thanks to this opportunity, she will become much more important, rich and famous than him, thanks to the iron discipline imposed by her manager. Instead, he a former countryman, implode on himself … so as not to disturb her career …

A Star is Born presents original songs performed live in the film by Cooper and Lady Gaga, written by them in collaboration with other artists such as Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell and Mark Ronson. The cast also includes Andrew Dice Clay, along with Dave Chappelle and Sam Elliott.

The history of this movie begins in 1937 with the first version of which was the protagonist Janet Gaynor, then is revived in 1954 with Judy Garland and in 1976 with Barbara Streisand, in editions more and more definable: “musical”. And somehow even this last offer to the international public is studded with musical interpretations: classic and other love songs that deal with existential themes of the US (and globalized) petty bourgeoisie. In the film, with great evidence, there is the hand of the billion dollar discography and several hints to the role that Youtube plays in the process of construction of the image of the protagonist. In short, a great “McDonald movie” with ingredients that mix tradition and innovation and that therefore propose lifestyles of new American dreams intertwined with LGBT environments.
What is striking, however, is the deployment on the field for the joy of the spectators of the planet.
Five co-producers five, including Bradley Cooper himself, accept this risky bet that in the recent past had fascinated Clint Eastwood (who wanted to entrust the role of female protagonist to Beyonce but did not do anything about it). It also mentions the participation of MGM and the distribution business is entrusted to the powerful Warner Bros who manages to put the film’s launch “out of competition” during the recent Venice Film Festival. So it’s a major movie?
Certainly the cast is impressive, in the eyes of the mass audience: Cooper 4-time Oscar candidate plays the role of a rockstar media named Jackson Maine;
Lady Gaga, who on this occasion loves to present her true origins, reveals her name as Stefani J.A. Germanotta (Sicilian father) embodies Ally, a miraculous woman who makes her debut as a waitress and then wins a Grammy Award. Sam Elliot (formerly Grande Lebowsky) joined him as Jackson’s brother.

Honestly it is not clear what is the reason that led to the realization of the 4th remake of “A star is born”. Do you do a lot of “box office”? Yes of course; recycle in a conformist key Lady Gaga? yes, but why? re-propose the old Neapolitan motto “the one who keeps the cchiù salute” wins?
