Nell’anno 2001, scoppia il caso “Tormento”… quando una sera appare sugli schermi di MTV Italia, senza preavviso, un video musicale che inizia con una dicitura : “2001 Chiesa di S. Maria in Cosmedin, Roma” e si vedono un prete ed una suora che in sacrestia, consumano un fugace incontro intimo!
Subito dopo la scena cambia, ed ecco un sacerdote dentro un confessionale con un ragazzo, e inizia il sogno peccaminoso che culmina in un Matrimonio gay in Chiesa, alla presenza di un Cardinale!

L’Italia perbenista, il giorno seguente, grida allo scandalo!
Si mobilitano associazioni cattoliche, interpellanze parlamentari, partono denunce, e nel giro di pochi giorni cade un fitto silenzio. La censura arriva come un sicario spietato, a porre fine a tutta la vicenda.
Il disco viene ritirato dai negozi, il video clip oscurato da tutte le tv, la canzone eliminata dalle playlist radiofoniche, e il cantante bandito ovunque, la sua casa discografica, la Sony Music Italia recide il contratto discografico stipulato per 5 anni con l’artista, l’Italia intera si scaglia contro un unica persona, come fosse il peggiore degli assassini, il suo nome e’ Maxximo , con 2 X, e questa e’ la mia storia!
Ma siccome sono sempre stato un ribelle di natura, non mi sono abbattuto e ho continuato la mia battaglia per la liberta’ e per il diritto sacrosanto di amare, che appartiene ad ogni uomo sulla Terra.
Il video viene presentato in un evento esclusivo presso la Warner Bros Cinemas di Roma a Piazza della Repubblica, davanti ad un pubblico attonito e sbalordito, alla presenza di tutta la stampa internazionale e sotto il patrocinio dell’Alta Moda Romana, presenti erano anche le telecamere di Striscia la Notizia con l’inviato speciale Dario Ballantini nei panni satirici dello stilista Valentino.
Nasce cosi’ un mito che mi osannera’ come artista nel resto del Mondo e mi demolira’ in casa, in Italia!
I magazine di mezzo mondo mi dedicano intere copertine ed interviste, tv in Inghilterra, Germania e Spagna mi invitano come guest star e la comunita’ GLBT Internazionale mi proclama nuova icona gay musicale, paragonandomi a mostri sacri come Madonna, George Michael, Boy George, E lton Jhon… artisti che come me si erano sempre battuti per i diritti degli omosessuali.
Il paradosso e’ che in Italia invece anche i media gay preferiscono tacere, intimoriti dalla censura, la stessa Gay Tv, censura il video clip sulla sua rete televisiva, il presidente dell’Arci gay, che a quel tempo era l’onorevole Franco Grillini, invece di sposare la battaglia contro la censura, preferisce tacere e ignorare il caso.
Devono passare quasi 20 anni per far riemergere il video e la canzone dagli abissi piu’ profondi , facendolo uscire dalla Spagna e nel 2018 che il video riappare improvvisamente on line e in soli 24 ore raggiunge oltre 1 milione di visualizzazioni sui Social Network! La stampa ricomincia a parlarne, le radio a ritrasmettere la canzone, piano piano “Tormento” ritorna in vita dalle ceneri come una Fenice, e oggi mi auguro che le nuove generazioni gay possano apprezzarlo e valorizzarlo nel giusto modo.

Tormento rappresenta un pezzo di storia e di conquista per tutta la comunita’ GLBT , ovunque essi si trovino, perche’ l’Amore e’ universale ed e’ un diritto di tutti!

Nella sua carriera da Art Director, ha diretto Televisioni,Radio,Magazine,Teatri, e grandi Star della Musica e dello Spettacolo, tra cui la Pop Star Inglese Boy George,per il suo Tour Mondiale negli anni 90", la vincitrice di The Voice of Italy Sister Cristina, e altri artisti come : Franco Simone, Teo Mammuccari, Fabrizio Frizzi, Antonella Ponziani, Claudia Koll...
