Nuvola di Fuksas, sopralluogo del sindaco Ignazio Marino al cantiere del nuovo Centro congressiSapete qual’è il più grande mistero attuale di Roma? Molti daranno come risposta:  “La Nuvola” di Fuksas.

Massimiliano Fuksas è il “padre” de la Nuvola, il polo congressuale più grande di Europa, situato nel quartiere Eur di Roma. L’opera di 27 mila metri quadrati e dal costo totale di 276 milioni di euro, dopo sette anni di lavori è ancora oggi incompiuta. Doveva essere inaugurata nel 2010 ma ancora oggi è solamente un cantiere aperto.

Opera pubblica, Privata, un Palazzo Congressi, un’ Opera architettonica? Ma alla fine a che cosa servirà? Quasi tutti a Roma ne hanno sentito parlare ma quasi nessuno è in grado ancora di descrivela o rappresentarla.

I romani non sanno con precisione cosa sta succedendo in quel cantiere sulla via Cristoforo Colombo, una strada importante e ad altissimo scorrimento. I romani sono soliti percorrerla durante il fine settimana anche per raggiungere il mare e ogni giorno migliaia di cittadini la percorrono per andare al centro e per tornare a casa dal lavoro.
Chiunque sia passato per “La Colombo” , cosi’ viene chiamata, ha sicuramente notato il cantiere almeno una volta. È sempre lì, da anni e alcuni lo considerano un simbolo dello spreco, della lentezza burocratica, dall’incapacità di portare a termine un progetto architettonico così sfidante.

massimiliano+fuksas+nuvola+roma+eur+sketchRispetto ai progetti iniziali molte cose sono cambiate. Circa 10 anni fa ci fu una Mostra in cui vennero messi in mostra i progetti dell’architetto Massimiliano Fuksas e che sembravano veramente quasi magici.
L’assurdo di questa storia è che l’esposizione dei progetti fu fatta all’ ex caserma Montellone proprio nell’area dove poi è sorto il MAXXI, il meraviglioso museo nazionale d’arte Moderna disegnato dall’architetta Zaha Hadid che è stato inaugurato il 28 maggio 2010.

Nel frattempo sono cambiati 3 sindaci della Città e per l’inaugurazione “La Nuovola” invece si deve ancora attendere.
Era il 1998 quando a vincere la gara per il Centro Congressi fu Massimiliano Fuksas e che fu nominato direttore dei lavori. La progettazione durò quasi 7 anni e l’architetto volle che il Centro Congressi fosse una enorme struttura da 55 mila mq, realizzata con acciaio e vetro, alta 40 metri, larga 70 e lunga 175. All’interno di questa area sono presenti sale conferenza, aree commerciali, un albergo e, soprattutto, la straordinaria sala-auditorium chiamata “la Teca”, che era stata immaginata come un contenitore a forma di nuvola, ricoperto da una membrana di fibra di vetro e silicone che desse la sensazione di galleggiare all’interno della teca stessa.

23 Maggio 2012L’opera non è ancora terminata e attualmente si stima all’80% della sua realizzazione totale. Dopo una nuova iniezioni di capitali (piu’ di 250 milioni di euro attualmente spesi) il comune ha dichiarato di poter completare l’opera entro fine di questo anno senza l’architetto Fuksas, che nel frattempo è stato  sollevato dall’incarico.

Sembra una storia assurda ma è vera,  l’architetto Massimiliano Fuksas è stato sollevato dall’incarico da parte della società di gestione a causa dei costi troppo elevati.
E’ difficile per uno straniero capire come mai un archistar di questa portata venga estromesso dai lavori all’80% della realizzazione dopo aver speso una montagna di denaro. Secondo i dati letti in rete e forniti da Eur SPA, l’architetto avrebbe percepito 4,5 milioni dal 2008 al 2013: 1,8 nel 2008, 2,15 nel 2011, 611 mila euro nel 2013. Quindi in totale, partendo dal 2001 e considerando i costi di progettazione, Fuksas avrebbe guadagnato circa 20 milioni di euro.

Attualmente la città di Roma si trova in uno stato di degrado molto forte, lo stesso quartiere dell’ EUR conta molti edifici in stato disastroso.

 Attorno al cantiere della nuvola, ci sono alcuni piccoli grattacieli (a Roma bastano 10 piani per sentirsi su un grattacielo) in stato di totale abbandono e da tanto tempo. Questi edifici sono alle porte di Roma sovrastano il laghetto dell’Eur e rappresentano la prima cosa, dopo il palazzetto dello sport, che si nota entrando da Roma se si viene dal mare.
