There are only a few days left to apply for the Call for Artists MArteLive (the deadline is set for November 25), through which you can participate in the semifinals of the Central Italy macro-area of the MArteLive contest, from which the first finalists (for Central Italy) of BiennaleMArteLive 2024 will be selected.
The final winners will be determined after the BiennaleMArteLive in October 2024, and the top performers in each artistic discipline will receive numerous prizes, totaling €16,000.
The contest is part of the “Insieme Siamo Arte” project carried out by the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital and ATCL.
MArteLive is a project supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Lazio Region.
MArteLive is indeed the first European multidisciplinary festival that, since 2001, selects and launches the best talents from the national and international contemporary scene. It awards over 100 prizes every year, including productions and management contracts, free workshops and residencies, press coverage and visibility, engagements, and participation in exclusive festivals and events.
Following the success (press review) of the 2022 edition, registrations are now open for the upcoming BiennaleMArteLive, scheduled from October 11 to 20, 2024.
On December 12 and 13, the first multidisciplinary event will take place at Qube in Rome with the participation of artists selected in Central Italy (Lazio, Tuscany, Marche, Umbria, and Abruzzo). Among them, the first finalists of BiennaleMArteLive 2024 will be chosen, and they will perform alongside guest artists (see the program on the website www.martelive.it).
The selected artists, converging in the festival-contest, will perform in a fusion of music, shows, and live performances of theater, dance, and contemporary circus, painting exhibitions and live painting, photography, projections, installations, readings, street art, and video mapping. These diverse elements will blend to create the “Total Show,” the beating heart of MArteLive.
MArteLive is an experiential festival where both the audience and artists explore a new level of creating and experiencing contemporary art and entertainment (video Twenty Years of MArteLive).
Numerous emerging artists have been discovered and brought to the stage thanks to the MArteLive System, allowing them to circulate, exhibit, perform, or participate in festivals, events, personal or collective exhibitions. Among others, just to name a few, there are Valencia’s street artists Toni Espinar, Sfhir, Man o Matic, and Tmx Artist, as well as Cristiano Quagliozzi, the young and talented Antonino Perrotta, and famous street artists from the Roman crew like Moby Dick, Diamond, Solo, and Beetroot.
For cinema, we remember Matteo Rovere, producer of “Smetto quando voglio” and winner in 2007 with the short film “Homo Homini Lupus,” and Adriano Valerio, who secured the first place in 2014 with his multi-award-winning short film “37°4S,” Special Mention of the Jury at the Cannes Film Festival (2013), and David di Donatello for Best Italian Short Film (2014). But not only them; there’s also the singer Nathalie, winner of the fourth edition of X Factor in 2010, the alternative-rock group kuTso, who ranked second in the New Proposals section of the 65th Sanremo Festival, the comedian and musician Valerio Lundini, winner of the literature section in 2009, the actor from The Pills group Luca Vecchi (winner of the literature section in 2010), actress Celeste Brancato (among the cast of Gianni Amelio’s film “Il ladro di bambini”), and the director and screenwriter Giuseppe Gagliardi.
