Tutti i cani hanno un forte senso dell’olfatto. Non c’è alcun odore che sfuggirà questi maestri dell’olfatto.
Il loro naso è dotato di sensori avanzati che sono in grado di catturare piccole quantità di molecole.

1) Black and Tan Coonhound

E’ un cane da caccia con una forte resistenza. Questa razza non lascia andare alcuna traccia, non importa quale sia il terreno. Sono cani pregiati e di grande compagnia e che richiedono un regolare esercizio fisico.

2) Bassotto

Questi cani sono stati originariamente allevati per caccia tassi. Essi possono seguire un percorso sia sopra che sotto terra. Sempre ansioso e vigile, non hanno mai eseguire il backup da una battuta di caccia. Hanno una personalità felice che li rende animali domestici grande famiglia.

3) Bluetick Coonhound

Questa razza è stata ufficialmente riconosciuta dalla United Kennel Club (UKC) solamente nel 1986; i Bluetick Coonhound venivano usati in grandi battute di caccia ed è con tutta probabilità il principale discendente del “Bracco inglese” con delle linee di sangue di “Bracco francese” .
Il Bluetick Coonhound può percepire anche odori molto deboli. E’ un cane molto determinato che può seguire percorsi nelle piste più intricate. Possiamo consioderarlo il boss della Coonhounds, anche se non è così facile da addestrare come il Black and Tan Coonhound.

4) Beagle

Ovunque il naso del Beagle indica dove questo cane andrà. Il Customs & Border Patrol nelgli Stati Uniti li utilizza per rintracciare le sostanze illegali.

5) Pastore tedesco

Si tratta della razza di cani utilizzati dal polizia e militari per eccellenza. Il loro forte senso dell’olfatto e facile addestrabilità li ha resi una parte importante delle forze dell’ordine.

6) Golden retriever

Il Golden Retriever è una eccellente cane per la ricerca e il salvataggio. Sono anche utilizzati anche come guida e cani da terapia.

 7) Labrador retriever

Il naso del Labrador Retriever gli permette di lavorare su tutti i tipi di terreno di rilevamento. Sono addestrati per effettuare ricerche e salvataggio.

8) Cane da pastore belga (Malinois)

Questo cane è molto efficace per l’individuazione di esplosivi. È un cane militare. La polizia e le agenzie militari di tutto il mondo li allenano a rilevare droghe, cimici, e in medicina anche il cancro alla prostata.

9) Basset Hound

Il Basset Hound è un cacciatore naturale e istintivamente segue ogni profumo interessante. Ha una lunga resistenza nel terreni difficili.

10) Segugio

Questo cane è un autorità quando si tratta di monitoraggio e ricerca. Il suo forte senso dell’olfatto ha origine dalle sue  grandi e spalancate narici che gli permettono di intrappolare anche le particelle più elusive. I segugi collaborano con le forze dell’ordine e il loro senso dell’olfatto è così accurato che diversi tribunali lo hanno accettato come prova.

    Riguardo all’olfatto dei cani, come varia in base alla stagione e umidità dell’aria? Ci sono altri fattori che lo influenzano.

      Riguardo l’olfatto Probabilmente ci altri saranno altri fattori da tenere in considerazione, per esempio ciò che può condizionare è la varieta’ di odori del fondo del suolo, o in presenza di situazioni olfattive complesse, che aiuteranno il cane ad allenarsi. Probabilmente dipende anche dall’attività fisica del cane, ad esempio la ricerca del tartufo ha anche un aspetto molto fisico e un cane allenato e con elevata resistenza cerchera’ meglio e con maggiore capacita’, aspetti riguardano la forma complessiva del cane oltre al suo olfatto.
