Le inconfondibili sfumature del romanticismo inglese sono protagoniste della mostra “Turner. Opere dalla Tate” curata da David Blayney Brown, al Chiostro del Bramante fino al 26 agosto 2018.

Una collezione composta da 92 opere per la prima volte insieme in Italia, capolavori provenienti dalla Tate Britain di Londra. La mostra è suddivisa in sei sezione tematiche e ricostruisce l’importanza che gli acquerelli ebbero nell’espressione artistica di J.M.W. Turner, rivelando soprattutto il suo lato intimo e riservato (1775-1851). Alcune tele sono testimoni dei mille viaggi del pittore, che instaurò un rapporto particolare e profondo con l’Italia, dove venne più volte soggiornando a Venezia, Roma e Napoli.

La mostra raccoglie la produzione privata dell’artista, quella nata per “proprio diletto” per usare le parole di Ruskin, dove Turner ha maggiormente osato e sperimentando tecniche, stili e soggetti. Vediamo qui l’evoluzione del celebre maestro dell’acquerello: schizzi, studi, acquerelli, disegni e una selezione di olii, che hanno anticipato l’impressionismo e hanno influenzato più di una generazione di artisti, quali Claude Monet, Caspar David Friedrich, Vincent Van Gogh, Edgar Degas, Paul Klee, Franz Marc, Wassily Kandinsky, Gustav Klimt, Mark Rothko, James Turrell e Olafur Eliasson.

La sua tecnica pittorica è libera e non convenzionale, produce effetti luminosi e atmosferici di grande intensità. La natura è protagonista, espressione della poetica romantica del sublime, nella sua pittura, così come nella letteratura inglese a lui contemporanea di Coleridge, Keats e Shelley. Il pittore della luce nasconde fra le sfumature una forza inarrestabile, quasi misteriosa. Le immagini sono emotivamente intense, la natura è in fermento e realtà e immaginazione si fondono.

Da qui l’idea di creare anche uno spazio dedicato che stimola i visitatori a vivere un’esperienza sensoriale. Infatti, in una sala del Museo, ci si potrà immergere a 360° in suoni e visioni, per vivere appieno l’esperienza artistica di Turner.
