Continue our tour among the Italians in the World… This time we meet Johannes Biazzo, a boy of Sicilian origin, for years he lives and works in Barcelona, and ‘a restorer of ancient churches and antique furniture, much sought after and appreciated throughout Catalunya, but even more so for his desserts and his Sicilian dishes, which have made him known throughout Barcelona!
1) Hi Johannes was born before your passion for the restoration or that for the culinary art?
For the restoration, a passion that I have always had since childhood!
2) Since when do you enjoy cooking and what do you prefer most among all the dishes you make?
Since I was 5 years old… I was helping my mother in the kitchen! Among the dishes that I prefer are typical Sicilian ones
3) In Barcelona everyone talks about your tiramisu ‘… do you have any secrets that you can reveal to make it so good?
The quality of products and creativity, combined with a lot of passion and patience…
4) Until recently ‘you had a small restaurant to taste Sicilian dishes in Barcelona, then you decided to close because’ took away all your time, regret it?
Yes, of course, I miss it a little, but it mostly lacks my clients, I have more time for myself now… I had clients who adored me, and among them there was also one of the greatest actresses in Spain, I prefer not to mention the name for privacy!
5) Your customers continue to search for you on the internet and make orders on facebook and whatsapp, can you satisfy all requests?
Not all, many are forced to refuse them… I do not want to spend the whole day around the stove!
6) A dessert you think you are the king, in addition to tiramisu ‘?
Sicilian almond biscuits, ancient recipe of traditional Sicilian pastry!
7) Have you ever thought about going to Mister Chef Spain on TV?
Yes… maybe one day you’ll see me there too…. I prefer not to say more than that, I’m superstitious!
8) Your dishes. Do they like more Italians or Spaniards?
More ‘to the Spaniards… but also to the Italians who live here… I have friends Italian restaurateurs who go crazy for my kitchen… and I said it all!
9) Do you ever make dinners with friends on your terrace at home?
Yes, of course, it’s my outlet to cook for the others… my terrace is if, pre full of friends at dinner, from Cardinals to wearers and VIPs of the show… but also ordinary people!
10) Would you like to cook for the Queen Mother of England? What dish would you prepare for it?
Wow! Of course I would like it! For her I would make a special dessert with almond and pistachio, covered with dark chocolate.
11) How many hours do you spend a day in the kitchen?
At least 4 hours, then I go to the gym!
12) You also care about your body, do you think that the art of cooking goes hand in hand with taking care of yourself?
It is essential to love each other to make others happy with your dishes…
13) Will you write a cookbook or a cooking blog all your own?
I do not think… a book does not intrigue me to write it… a blog yes… I’m much more technological than traditionalist.
14) Can you reveal a top secret recipe to reveal to our readers with your own passion?
I can not… because every dish or dessert I make is unique and depends on my creativity, I can not give a recipe that is official and goes well for everyone!
