La forza delle sue fotografie è di una bellezza disarmante, vibrano, c’è qualcosa altro che ci stupisce tutte le volte che guardiamo una fotografia di Terry O’ Neil, è lo sguardo di chi lo ha fotografato.

Cogliendo cosi l’anima dolce, stupita, allegra, pensierosa di ogni personaggio famoso che ha incontrato, non banale, attualizzando i suoi scatti come se fossero fatti ieri o poche ore fa. La bellezza dell’essenziale che trasmette vere emozioni.

Terry O’ Neil ha iniziato la sua professione di fotografo a 22 anni come freelance con le riviste Vogue, Paris Match e Rolling Stones. Ha lavorato a fianco di grandi fotografi come David Bailey, Terence Donovan e Patrick Lichfield, autori della Swinging London degli anni ’60. In seguito ha avuto commissioni dalle più grandi riviste e giornali in tutto il mondo.

Nella sua vita, Terry O’ Neil ha avuto la fortuna di poter viaggiare molto e di incontrare scenari e personaggi dei più diversi e interessanti. I suoi legami con il mondo di Hollywood hanno contribuito al suo immenso successo a livello internazionale. Sempre molto attento ai dettagli dei personaggi famosi, quelli che conosceva e non, ai luoghi, ai momenti.

Ha fotografato tanti personaggi famosi, dai Rolling Stones, Faye Dunaway, David Bowie, Paul Newman, Micheal Caine, anime che vivono ancora attraverso il suo sguardo e la sua luce.

I suoi scatti ci parlano di vissuto, persone fotografati in modo molto intimo e con dettagli che ci colpiscono. Immortalando quei personaggi è riuscito a portare a conoscenza di chi le guarda, quello che stavano vivendo in quei luoghi sconosciuti al grande pubblico e di chi solo li viveva in quel momento. Foto che ci documentano anche luoghi e situazioni che pochissimi avrebbero potuto vedere.

La fotografia deve raccontare storie, luoghi, persone, sono simboli che ci devono emozionare o far pensare, quello che il fotografo vede in quel momento, situazioni che lo avvincono e le storie più interessanti, piene di vita, si trovano sempre nelle situazioni particolari…

Scatti spontanei, dove le ombre giocano un valore assoluto, dove lo sguardo dice tutto, con un fascino incredibile, uno scatto come un’illuminazione dove cogliere quella particolarità, svelare quell’aspetto, far immaginare o ragionare, come in un momento di riposo da un film…oppure durante un mega concerto. Opere che riflettono le atmosfere dell’epoca in cui sono state realizzate e che spesso hanno anticipato i tempi. E per questo uniche.

Nascono così le fotografie di Terry O’Neil – la figura di questo grande appassionato fotografo, la sua sensibilità, il suo modo di raccontare personale, pieno di atmosfere, suggestioni, ricordi – le sue fotografie parlano di sé, riescono a distinguersi ed a raccontarci qualcosa di diverso, nel mare di immagini che ci sommergono ogni giorno.

Terry O’Neill è uno dei fotografi più raccolti del mondo con il lavoro esposto in gallerie d’arte nazionali e collezioni private di tutto il mondo. Da presidenti a pop star ha fotografato la prima traccia di personaggi famosi per oltre sei decenni. Ha fotografato dai Rolling Stones alla famiglia reale britannica, tante star di Hollywood, star del cinema e rockstar, regalità e ladri. Per i suoi oltre 50 anni di carriera è stato recentemente premiato con una medaglia: della Real Photographic Society per un “contributo significativo per l’Arte della fotografia”.

Terry O’Neill con la sua mostra dal titolo Black and White Iconic Photographs è a Londra fino al 22 Maggio 2016. L’aspettiamo presto in Italia, a Roma!

Questa mostra attuata a Londra grazie all’eccezionale organizzatrice Monica Colussi che, con la sua collaborazione con la Fiat Chrysler Motor Village ha creato questa splendida sinergia con la Ransom Art Gallery. La mostra dà la possibilità al grande pubblico di vedere le foto in formato grande e in modo diverso. Tuffatevi nel suo mondo in bianco e nero.

La mostra Terry O’Neill “ Black and White Iconic Photographs” dal 22 Aprile al 22 Maggio 2016 presso la Fiat Chrysler Motor village Marylebone showroom a 105 Wigmore Street, Marylebone, London, W1U 1QY .
